Impaired glucose and lipid parameters are associated with increased risk of metabolic syndrome and
cardiovascular disease. Although there are many studies and hypotheses about how psychiatric drugs
affect glucose and lipid metabolism, many drugs and mechanisms have not yet been studied or have
insufficient evidence. Even though the mechanisms have not been fully elucidated, lipid and glucose
parameters of individuals receiving psychiatric treatment should be monitored.
