In addition to the genetic similarities with humans,
the well-characterized sexual cycles of female animals and ease of production
have led to the preference of these animals in experiments, as well as the
genetic similarities with humans among the reasons for conducting scientific
research on laboratory animals. In this section, information about the
reproductive physiology of laboratory animals, which can assist in the studies
of gynecology and obstetrics etiopathogenesis and pregnancy physiology, is
explained.
