In today’s world, where the global population is aging, liver cirrhosis is among the diseases that increase with aging. The prognosis of liver cirrhosis in the elderly is worse than in younger patients due to delays in the diagnosis of cirrhosis compared to younger patients and the higher incidence of aging-related comorbidities in the elderly. Diagnosis of liver cirrhosis usually begins with suspicion of cirrhosis. Most of the time, the diagnosis can be made by combined evaluation of anamnesis, physical examination, laboratory data and radiological findings. When necessary, liver biopsy is also used. Management of compensated liver cirrhosis includes surveillance. In decompensated liver cirrhosis, treatment for complications and liver transplantation in suitable patients are required.
