Laparoscopic appendectomy is the most commonly used
minimally invasive technique in general surgical emergencies. Since it was first identified in 1981,
it has become accepted rapidly. The classical 3-port technique is the most widely used, and the
single port technique is also using. Studies have shown that laparoscopic appendectomy is on its way to
becoming gold standard in the treatment of both uncomplicated and complicated appendicitis.
